John Hogue has over a decade of data science and analytics experience with focus on developing high power teams that deliver sustainable and scalable products and helping clients explore the bleeding edge of what’s possible.

Most recently he served as the Director of Data Science at the fast growing digital agency, Ovative Group where he grew the data science org to 17, structuring it into four functional teams to accommodate internal demand while keeping it a cohesive data science organization. Critically, one team was devoted to strategic consulting to drive Ovative to learn faster in tandem with our clients on unsolved marketing measurement problems facing the industry.

John spent 8 years at General Mills developing a 26-person data science organization from scratch. In his tenure there, he saw his team applied as integral drivers of enterprise-wide data and analytics programs, such as strategic revenue management, integrated supply and demand forecasting, supply chain commodity sourcing, ecommerce, digital loyalty programs, and Box Tops for Education.

John is an Executive Advisor for Minneanalytics, a 17,000-member strong non-profit organization focused on connecting data analytics professionals together across the Midwest. He also serves on the University of St Thomas’ Strategic Advisory Board, providing direction on industry and technology changes that impact their offerings. Additionally, he co-founded Social Data Science, a non-profit with the mission of applying the knowledge of aspiring and practicing data scientists to make their communities a better place through skill-based volunteerism.

Outside of the world of data and analytics, John can be seen riding his cargo bike with two kids onboard or in the many state parks Minnesota and Wisconsin have to offer in a small teardrop camper.
