AWS Data Analytics in Cloud

Learn how to make data-driven decisions using Big Data

Collaborating with AWS Academy, this workshop contains a series of lab exercises that teach students how to conduct Big Data analysis with practical, real-world examples. Students will learn how to analyze extremely large data sets, and to create visual representations of that data, using a case-study approach.

This is course #3 in a series focused on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including: AWS Cloud Foundations (Course #1), AWS Cloud Architectures (Course #2), and AWS Machine Learning in Cloud (Course #4). Take one class or all four in the series.

    This program will include:

    • Ingesting data into Amazon S3
    • Querying Amazon S3 data using Amazon Athena
    • Transforming data using Amazon S3, AWS Glue, and Amazon Athena
    • Loading the Amazon Redshift Cluster with data and querying
    • Analyze data with Amazon SageMaker, Jupyter notebooks, and Bokeh
    • Setting up and executing a data pipeline job to load data into Amazon S3
    • Streaming data with AWS Kinesis Firehose, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, and Kibana
    • Using AWS IoT Analytics for data ingestion and analysis

    Ron C. Chiang is an Associate Professor at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the George Washington University, Washington, D.C. His research interest includes cloud computing, and computer systems. He works extensively with AWS and is an AWS Educate Cloud ambassador, an AWS Academy accredited educator, and an AWS certified professional.
